Every patient over the age of 18 that comes into the emergency department at UK Chandler Hospital or UK Good Samaritan Hospital, is tested for hepatitis C when they have a routine blood draw. Patients are told about the additional test and given the opportunity to opt-out of being tested with about 85 percent of patients consenting to have the test done.
