LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 10, 2013) - UK HealthCare's Gill Heart Institute received a donation this week from new Lexington business Altar'd State as part of the boutique's "Mission Monday" initiative.
Dr. Susan Smyth, chief of cardiovascular medicine at the Gill Heart Institute, and Justin Campbell, administrator of the Gill Heart Institute, received the gift Wednesday from storeowner Jennie Benningfield.
Altar'd State operates almost 20 boutiques in the Southeastern region. Headquartered in Knoxville, each Altar'd State store donates 10 percent of net proceeds each Monday to various local charities.
Benningfield said they chose the Gill Heart Institute for February to recognize American Heart Month.
In Lexington, Altar'd State is located in the Hamburg Pavilion.
